The Ladies Hostel Entry

Posters were put at various public places in AIIMS, New Delhi that Professor Bhatia (Fictional Name) was found roaming in the Ladies’ hostel at late night when the entry of all gents was banned; demanding strict action against him by the Director of AIIMS.

Dr. Dev (Fictional Name) was the Undergraduate (UG) gent’s hostel’s secretary and member of the hostel advisory committee. When he met  Professor Bhatia at the committee meeting he asked him about the allegations made in the posters.

Professor Bhatia explained that he was on the evening walk with his wife in the AIIMS campus. When he and his wife passed in front of the Ladies’ hostel at around 10.30 pm they noticed that the main gate was open and the guard was nowhere to be seen.

Angry at the guard for his negligence at leaving his post near the gate to prevent any unlawful entry, Professor Bhatia along with his wife went in search of the guard in the ladies' hostel campus. Being the hostel Superintendent and with his wife at his side like a chaperone, Dr. Bhatia did not think anything wrong in his action. While they were searching for the guard, some female inmates of the hostel saw them and reported this fact next day to some of their male colleagues who put the posters on the campus.

Sometimes action taken with good intentions may be misrepresented and lead to infamy. Be careful while going in a restricted zone even with good cause.

Also, after talking to Professor Bhatia, Dr. Dev came to know the complete story. Do not judge someone without hearing their side first. Things which at first glance may appear serious transgression may appear justifiable when we see the complete picture.
